प्रभावती गुप्त Daughter of Chandragupta II — The Regent Queen Who Bridged Two EmpiresPrabhavati Gupta (c.380–440 CE) was the daughter of the legendary Chandragupta II (Vikramaditya) of the Gupta Empire and was married to Rudrasena II of the Vakataka Dynasty. When her husband died young, she became regent for her young sons — and effectively ruled the Vakataka kingdom for over 20 years, maintaining the alliance between two of India's greatest empires.
प्रभावती गुप्त (लगभग 380-440 ई.) महान चंद्रगुप्त द्वितीय (विक्रमादित्य) की पुत्री थीं और वाकाटक वंश के रुद्रसेन द्वितीय से उनका विवाह हुआ था। जब उनके पति युवावस्था में ही चल बसे, वे अपने युवा पुत्रों की रीजेंट बनीं।
As regent, Prabhavati Gupta effectively united the Gupta and Vakataka empires diplomatically. Her copper plate inscriptions show she issued royal edicts in her own name — extraordinary for a woman of her era. She referred to herself as 'Devi' (Goddess) in inscriptions, asserting sovereign authority.
