One of the great Shakti Peethas — where the heart of Sati is said to have fallen. At Ambaji the Mother is worshipped not as an image but as the sacred Shri Vishwa Yantra, on the holy Aravalli hills near Gujarat's border.
Amba of the Aravallis अम्बा
High on the Aravalli hills near the Gujarat–Rajasthan border stands Ambaji, among the most revered Shakti shrines of western India, where tradition holds the heart of Sati fell. Here the Mother has no idol — she is worshipped as the sacred geometry of the Shri Vishwa Yantra, veiled and adorned, seen only through the eyes of devotion.
Worship without an image
There is no carved murti in the sanctum; the Devi is the Bija Yantra itself. The visual form the pilgrim sees is a beautiful adornment placed before the yantra — the Mother as pure cosmic power.
Gabbar Hill
Across the valley rises Gabbar, believed to be the original seat of the Devi, with her footprints and the eternal flame — pilgrims climb to it as part of the Ambaji darshan.
Where the heart fell कथा
As Shiva bore Sati and Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra divided her body, her heart came to rest on these hills, and the Mother took her seat as Amba — worshipped ever after as the very heart of the Devi's love for the world.
Ambaji is woven into countless traditions — the tonsure of the child Krishna is said to have been performed here, and the hills have drawn saints and pilgrims across the ages.

Seva at the sanctum पूजा
Ambaji sees great crowds, especially on Purnima and during Navratri; the temple opens morning and evening with a midday break — confirm current timings before travelling.
