Lalita Prayagraj

One of the great Shakti Peethas — where a finger of Sati is said to have fallen. The Mother abides as Lalita at Prayagraj, near the sacred Triveni Sangam of Ganga, Yamuna and the unseen Saraswati, guarded by the Bhairava Bhava.

At Prayagraj — Tirtharaja, the king of holy places — near the meeting of Ganga, Yamuna and the hidden Saraswati, the Mother abides as Lalita Devi, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where a finger of Sati fell. Worshipped in the Sri Vidya tradition as Lalita Tripurasundari, she is the presiding Devi of the great Kumbh city.

Where the finger fell कथा
As Shiva bore Sati and Vishnu's chakra divided her body, a finger of her hand came to rest at Prayag, and the Mother took her seat there as Lalita, guarded by Shiva himself as the Bhairava Bhava.
At the confluence of the sacred rivers, where gods and sages have gathered through the ages, her shrine remains a beloved seat of the Mother in the heart of the tirtha-raja.
