Dakshayani Manasa
दाक्षायणी देवी — मानस, कैलाश-मानसरोवर
One of the great Shakti Peethas — where the right hand of Sati is said to have fallen. The Mother abides as Dakshayani by sacred Lake Manasarovar, at the very foot of Mount Kailash, the abode of Shiva — the highest and most remote of all her seats.
Dakshayani by the sacred lake दाक्षायणी
At the very foot of Mount Kailash, by the shining waters of Lake Manasarovar, dwells the Mother as Dakshayani — “the daughter of Daksha” — one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where the right hand of Sati fell. This is the highest and most remote of all the Peethas, wedded to the holiest of pilgrimages: the Kailash-Manasarovar Yatra, where Shiva himself abides upon the mountain.

Here the Peeth and the abode of Shiva are one landscape — the Mother by the lake and the Lord upon the mountain — the supreme union of Shiva and Shakti in sacred geography.
A yatra of great austerity
Reaching Manasarovar demands a long high-altitude journey across the Himalaya; the darshan is among the most demanding and revered of all Hindu pilgrimages.
Where the right hand fell कथा
As Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra divided the body of Sati, her right hand came to rest by Lake Manasarovar, and the Mother took her seat there as Dakshayani, at the foot of Kailash where Shiva abides — the eternal Bhairava of this loftiest Peeth.
So the greatest of Shiva's mountains and one of the Mother's seats stand together, and the pilgrim who circles Kailash and bathes in Manasarovar honours both the Lord and the Devi as one.

Seva at the sanctum पूजा
Manasarovar is reached only on the organised Kailash-Manasarovar Yatra across the high Himalaya; there is no everyday temple worship here as at other Peethas. Plan through official yatra channels far in advance.

Offerings
Pilgrims bathe in Manasarovar and offer prayers at the lakeshore; the parikrama of Kailash is itself the supreme act of devotion.
