At holy Pushkar — home to one of the very few temples of Brahma and its sacred lake — the Mother abides as Gayatri, one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where the wrists (manibandha) of Sati fell. As Gayatri, the Mother of the Vedas and of the sacred mantra, she crowns this ancient tirtha of Rajasthan.

Here the Devi is worshipped as Gayatri herself — the embodiment of the holiest of Vedic mantras, the light that awakens the mind.

The Gayatri and Savitri hill-temples overlook the Pushkar lake and the Brahma temple; pilgrims climb for darshan and the sweeping view.
Where the wrists fell कथा
As Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra divided the body of Sati, the manibandha — her wrists, adorned with ornaments — came to rest at Pushkar, and the Mother took her seat there as Gayatri, guarded by Shiva as the Bhairava Sarvananda.
Pushkar, sanctified by Brahma's own yajna, holds the Mother in the form of the sacred Word — a rare meeting of the Creator's tirtha and the Devi's seat.
